J.J. graduated from the University of Utah with a B.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in International Studies. As a junior, he had an original paper,
The Tri-Border Area's Link to the War on Terror, published in the annual
Hinckley Journal of Politics in 2008. He was also accepted to the prestigious Hinckley Institute of Politics intern program three times: as an intern for a Utah-based campaign for US Senate, the National Defense University in Washington DC, and Azul Brazilian Airlines in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
With Azul, he worked in the marketing department working with social media and guerilla marketing, and also assisted in the launch of the Brazilian travel social network viajamos.com.br. JJ currently works as the marketing manager for a global healthcare technology company.
